LoL: “Meet Me at the Lake” by Carley Fortune

OVERALL RATING; LIRE, 🥖.5/5

I’m sorry to say this is my first not-so-great review on LoL. If you have the time and money to gamble on a book, ignore this review and click purchase.

It was a chore to pick it up and get into the plot. Normally I can plow through a book in one or two days – this book took me two weeks. It moves incredibly slowly, and I didn’t find a considerable surprise moment in any corner of the book.

The book takes place at a lakeside resort, and in my opinion, the description of this supposedly “beautiful and serene lake” fell short most of the time.

I’d also like to note that this book is quite raunchy and it was very unexpected and not in a good way.

Since this is a negative book, I should make note that Carley Fortune does have an awesome book, “Every Summer After” that I read just before this one. It’s been around a month since I’ve read it so it might not get a mention on LoL, but to be really short… it’s worth the $10.

BRIEF SUMMARY

“Meet Me at the Lake” is the story of Fern Brookbanks, who lost her mother and stumbled into the inheritance of her lakeside resort, and Will Baxter, the handsome artist she stumbled upon in her twenties and now is showing back up to consult Fern on what to do next. The two have spent their years apart dealing with their own sets of problems, but the question is, who can help who? Will she sell the resort or ditch her job in the city to keep up her mom’s lifelong dream?
